Stanozolol: • Androgenic potential: 30 • Anabolic potential: 320 • Chemical name: 1. 17-beta-hydroxy-17-methyl-5-alpha-androstane [3,2-c] pyrazole • Estrogenic activity: none. • Progestogenic activity: not significant. Description: • “Winstrol” is the most commonly found name of the anabolic steroid stanozolol. • DHT-derived compound modified to promote its high anabolic effect with minimal androgenicity. • One of the compounds with the highest dissociation of anabolic and androgenic effects. • Anabolic steroid that is not aromatizable into estrogens. • Second most used oral anabolic steroid (first: Dianabol – Methandrostenolone). • Use: “Great muscle gains without water retention” Structure: • Modified from DHT by adding a methyl group at C-17-alpha and a pyrazole group on the A ring (replacement of the normal group: 3-keto, which classifies it as a heterocyclic AEA). • Modifications made to obtain a great anabolic power associated with a low androgenic power. • The hormonal receptor affinity of Stanozolol is weaker than that of testosterone and DHT. • It has a longer half-life and a lower affinity for serum binding proteins. • It also presents a possible interaction with the androgen cell receptor, acting as an antagonist of the progesterone receptor (in therapeutic doses, this does not present progestogenic activity). • It also has a SHBG-reducing action (increasing anabolic potential by increasing the free fraction of testosterone). • It is usually used in combination with testosterone (since it has the potential to reduce SHBG, it would enhance the effect by increasing the free fraction of testosterone). Administration: MEN • Clinical use: • Oral: 6 mg/day (3 doses of 2 mg). Injectable: 50 mg/for 2-3 weeks. • Bodybuilding/Sport: 15-25 mg/day (3 to 5 doses of 5 mg). • Anabolic Steroid Cycles for a period of 6-8 weeks. * Injectable Form 50 mg/alternating days. • Comparison oral mg / injectable mg = the anabolic potency of the injectable form is greater than the oral form.
